Erasmus Students:
Erasmus students are invited to attend the course. Readings and other teaching materials are also available in English and French; the final exam may be discussed in English or French. A basic knowledge of Italian is, however, required. Contact the teacher for an appointment before the beginning of the course. - Contents
- The course will be focused on the reconstruction of the debate on war and peace, international relations and global order in terms of the history of political thought. The primary sources (texts provided by the teacher on unistudium web platform) concerning some essential contexts of this debate, starting from the Middle Ages, will be analyzed in class.

- Knowledge and understanding: the student will acquire a good knowledge of the debate on war and peace, international relations and global order in modern and contemporary European political thought.
Ability to apply the acquired knowledge: the student will be able to use the acquired knowledge for a better understanding of the existing links between political ideas and the current geopolitical situation. - Prerequisites
- A good knowledge in the fields of modern history, contemporary history and history of political thought is required.
- Teaching methods
- Traditional lessons, based on the reading of primary sources in the classroom (texts will be provided by the teacher) and on the reconstruction of the historical-geographical contexts of reference.
- Other information
- Attendance is not compulsory. Non attending students will study a different exam's program (see above, "Reference Texts" section).
- Learning verification modality
- Final oral exam. There will be no intermediate exemptions or other forms of written examination.
