Contents
The course is divided into three parts. The first introduces some
basic concepts of general economics, microeconomics and
macroeconomics regarding production costs and markets applied to the
agri-food system. The second part analyzes some peculiarities of the
agricultural farms, regarding the Italian context; in particular, the
students will analyze the figure of the agricultural entrepreneur, the
factors of production in agriculture, the balance and efficiency ratios. The
third part is a brief analysis of agricultural policies, with a focus on the
CAP and the first pillar in particular.

Educational objectives
The course aims to provide students with the basic skills to analyze
production and entrepreneurial choices, to understand the economic
analysis of farm management, as well as the problems and methods of
planning and choosing corporate investments. Through this the student
will acquire the knowledge, analysis tools, and management techniques
necessary to understand the phenomena related to the agricultural
enterprise.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic mathematics concepts is required, which the student should already have from high school or make up for with the mathematics exam.
Teaching methods
frontal lessons on all the course topics, in-depth seminars on specific
topics; practical exercises (exercises, data processing, etc.)
Learning verification modality
The student's assessment takes place through a written test which is accompanied by an oral interview in which the topics of the written test
are deepened. The writing consists of 8 open questions and 2 exercises; it
lasts one hour.
