| Educational objectives | Provide notions relating to the clinical aspects of the main pathologies of pregnancy and postpartum in small animals as well as those relating to the reproductive tract in the male D1 - KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING The student must have: 1. Knowledge of female and male diseases of small animals reproduction (diagnosis and therapy) 2. Knowledge of the pathologies of pregnancy, parturition and the puerperium of small animals 3. Knowledge of the main surgical techniques of the male and female genital apparatus of small animals D2 - APPLYNG KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING At the end of the training the student will be able to: 1. Breeding soundness evaluation of small animal reproduction 2. Pregnancy diagnosis 3. Diagnosis and therapy of the main causes of male and female infertility in small animals D3 - MAKING JUDGMENT At the end of the training activity the student will be able to: 1. Perform pregnancy diagnosis 2. Issue a diagnostic procedure and a therapeutic protocol for the main pathologies of small animal reproduction 3. To issue a prognostic judgment of the main pathologies of small animal reproduction D4 - COMMUNICATION SKILLS at the end of the training the student will be able to: 1. Organize, prepare and present, to an audience made up of people of the same level of preparation, a presentation on a specific pathology of the female reproductive system with own evaluations supported by appropriate arguments 2. Support an open debate with people both of equal preparation and experts in different topics, of a regulatory, scientific, procedural and / or technological nature 3. Demonstrate language skills in both written and oral form, as well as the ability to use terminology that is sufficiently appropriate for a correct approach to the profession, also important for job interviews D5 - LEARNING SKILLS At the end of the training activity the student will be able to: 1. Consult and understand scientific texts, including innovative ones, bibliographic updates, regulatory provisions, in such a way as to use them in contexts that are not only usual for the profession, including research, but also original ones 2. | Learning verification modality | The exam will be theoretical and practical. The theoretical part will be related to the evaluation of the learning of the themes taught during the course and present in the program. D5 - LIFELONG LEARNING SKILLS At the end of the training the student will be able to: 1 consult and understand scientific texts, even innovative ones, bibliographic updates, normative dictations, so as to employ them in contexts not only usual for the profession, including research, but also originals 2 manage a sufficiently broad mastery of the subject to guarantee an acceptable basis for continuing professional updating through ongoing lifelong learning. |
| Teaching methods | Theoretical lessons: classroom on all topics listed in the program . Practical activity: 1) Obstetrical procedures to the peripartum bovine 2) Obstetric care, parturition and neonatal care 3) Gynecological and ultrasound examination of the genital tract of the mare Activities: maximum 15 students) for some activities and in 11 teams (Clinical Rotations: maximum 5 students). Required furniture: long zoothecnical gloves, boot and coverall Self - directed learning activities : preparation of a presentation and description of a case report on a clinical case observed during the Clinical Rotation activities, based on online searches. |
