- knowledge: the student must be able to physically evaluate an animal that is presented in emergency setting and to decide the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures necessary for its stabilization.
applying knoledge: the student will become familiar with the main procedures for the stabilization in the critically ill patient. it will also be able to perform triage on the animal and to support the teaching and medical staff of the VTH during emergency - Teaching methods

- the stabilization of critically ill patient: how to set up fluid and oxygen therapy; the pharmacological containment, the nutritional support (4 hours, including seminary and discussion on clinical cases)

- How to approach animals with urinary tract obstruction (1 h discussion on clinical cases, 2 h practical activity)
