Library activities for the management of scientific information (research, selection, utilization) and writing of: publications, theses, research projects and proposal
Reference texts
There are no textbooks. Didactic materials and bibliographical references will be provided at the lesson
Educational objectives
Raise the ability to assess the type and relevance of scientific information, critically analyzing sources, using them in a legally correct and pertinent way

Teaching methods
Computer lab practice and training at the Veterinary and Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute libraries.
Five meetings are scheduled (5 hours each; from 9 am to 14 pm).

Depending on availability of computers and libraries' receptivity, a maximum of 10 students are admitted
Learning verification modality
There is no final test. Acquisition of course credits, is conditioned by the participation, at least 80% of the scheduled hours
Extended program
Introduction: how to use the available bibliographic resources: Unipg online Catalog, databases, e-journals, e-books.
Linking resolver and discovery tool to ease the bibliographic research and publication retrieval.
Exercitations on scientific databases (eg PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science). Free access to electronic resources from an external network, through the credentials authentication system, reserved for Unipg registred users.
Access to the Library system to obtain scientific articles and take advantage of the interlibrary loan services .
Introduction to bibliographic citation systems and scientometric indexes, for the evaluation of articles and researcher careers.
Using Zotero Reference Manager: Creation and annotation of a bibliography for writing a scientific article. Editing of the bibliography and adherence to scientific journals citation standards.
