- Requisitions of artistic made in Italy and in Europe by Napoleon in the period between 1797 and 1815 with an emphasis on Italian campaigns of 1796-1797 and 1811-1812 , the latter by Dominique - Vivant Denon , and in particular the case of Umbria . The course will explore the works requisitioned , together with sources of Italian art and French literature at the base of the collectings. In the course it will prove , in addition, as many other dynamics following, ranging from the destruction of the past , modernization , and re-ordering all'iperrestauro, were largely opened on the occasion of that crucial decade .

- For an understanding of the topics discussed during the course, students
must have a good knowledge of art history and the history of art
criticism. This precondition is valid both for students attending and not
attending

Modalità di verifica
dell'apprendimento
L'esame prevede soltanto una prova orale finale che consiste in una
discussione-colloquio relativa agli argomenti trattati durante il corso e
approfonditi sui testi consigliati. La prova serve per accertare il livello di
conoscenza acquisito e la capacità di comprensione, nonchè di sintesi,
raggiunti dallo studente. Il colloquio consentirà inoltre di verificare la
capacità che lo studente ha di comunicare quanto acquisito, con metodo
e proprietà di linguaggio. La durata dell'esame varia a seconda
dell'andamento della prova e comincia di norma con una domanda a
piacere su un argomento scelto dallo studente al fine di metterlo a
proprio agio.
Programma esteso Il corso intende analizzare il fenomeno della dispersione del ricco
patrimonio artistico italiano durante l'eà napoleonica, in particolare nel
periodo compreso fra 1797 e 1815, quando, a seguito dei trattati di
Bologna e Tolentino, una grande quantità di capolavori di arte antica e
moderna italiani vennero forzosamentre trasferiti al Louvre dai
commissari incaricati da Napoleone. Il corso intende quindi prendere in
esame tale fenomeno in rapporto alla letteratura artistica italiana e
francese coeva e mettendolo in relazione altresì con tematiche inerenti
alla storia del collezionismo e della museologia. Particolare attenzione
sarà riservata al fenomeno delle requisizioni a Perugia e in Umbria - Teaching methods

- The exam includes only the final oral test consisting of a discussioninteview
on the topics discussed during the course and examined indepth
through reccomended texts. The test aims at assuring the level of
knowledge und understanding, as well as synthesis, achieved by the
student. Moreover this interview will verify that the student is able to
communicate, with method and propriety of language, what he has
acquired. The duration of the test varies depending on the performance
of the test itself and begins, as a rule, with a subject of the student's
choice in order to put him at ease - Extended program
- The course aims to analyze the dispersion of the rich Italian artistic
heritage during the Napoleonic era, especially in the period between
1797 and 1815, when, as a result of the Treaty of Bologna and Tolentino,
a large number of masterpieces of ancient and modern art Italian were
transferred to the Louvre by the commissioners appointed by Napoleon.
The course intends to examine this dispersion in relation to the Italian
and French contemporary art literature and by relating it also with issues
related to the history of collecting and museology. Particular attention
will be paid to the situation in Perugia and Umbria
