- The teaching provides the outlines of the history of conservation and restoration from the Greek age to the present day with particular attention to the theory and methods of modern restoration. Visits to restoration laboratories and meetings with restorers are planned.
- Prerequisites
- In order to understand the topics covered, manual knowledge of the historical-artistic events from antiquity to the twentieth century and of the main artistic techniques is required.
- Teaching methods
- Frontal lessons; projections; educational trips; meetings with sector operators.
- Learning verification modality
- Attendance (recommended but not compulsory); final oral interview.
- Extended program
- The course explores the historical story of archaeological and historical-artistic restoration through the thoughts of the personalities (archaeologists, architects, art historians and restorers) who have reflected on this theme; moreover, some works restored in recent years will be presented as examples of today's operational practice aroused by critical reflection
