- Educational objectives
- Basic knowledge of ore geology. Understanding of the processes, as well¿as the nature and origin, of ore mineral occurence and how they fit into¿the Earth system. Basic knowledge in the interpretation of mining¿prospection and sustainable mining
- Prerequisites
- In order to be able to understand the subject of the course students are required to have basic knowledge of geology, geochemistry, mineralogy, petrology and volcanology
- Teaching methods
- face-to-face Practical training
- Learning verification modality
- The exam consists of a written essay and oral test. The student must produce a written essay on a selected topic of the course that will be discussed during the oral exam that will be about 30 minutes in which the level of knowledge reached will be tested.¿The oral exam will also test the student communication skills and his autonomy in the organization and exposure of the topics of the course
- Extended program
- Introduction and Ore deposits definitions. Systematics of ore minerals: native elements, oxide and hydro-oxide, sulfide. Ore genesis and classification of ore deposits: magmatic, magmatic-hydrothermal, hydrothermal, metamorphic and sedimentary-supergenic deposits. Plate tectonics and the global distribution of ore deposits. Models and problems of sustainable mining.
