Educational objectives
The main aim of this teaching is to provide students with the basic knowledge of physical chemistry, as regard to thermodynamics, kinetics and spectroscopy.

Main knowledge acquired will be:

-fundamentals of chemical thermodynamics and kinetics;
-fundamentals of atomic and molecular spectroscopy;
-basic knowledge of different spectroscopic techniques and of their applications.

The main competence (i.e. the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) will be:

-interpretation of the quantities, laws and equations introduced in connection with the chemical and physico-chemical phenomena considered;
-rationalization of the behavior of the systems examined on the basis of their molecular properties;
-ability to communicate appropriately the concepts considered;
-ability to apply acquired knowledge to subsequent courses of study.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of General Chemistry and Mathematics.
Teaching methods
Lectures on all subjects of the course.
Other information
Attendance:
Recommended.
Learning verification modality
The exam consists of an oral test. This consists on an interview aiming at ascertain the knowledge level and the understanding capability acquired by the student on the contents as indicated on the program. Moreover, the oral test will serve to verify the ability to correctly apply the theoretical knowledge and to communicate appropriately, organizing autonomously the exposition. The duration of the test varies depending on the performance of the test itself.
