- The course provides students with cognitive tools for understanding the process of European integration. In this perspective specific objective of the course is to highlight the main features relating to: the nature of the Union and of the integration process; the powers of the EU and to the exercise thereof; institutions and major organs of the Union; sources of law; procedures for the adoption and amendment of European acts; European judicial control system.

- Knowledge of the basic elements of the EU legal system. Acquisition of the general aspects to work within: Public administration, EU'careers , Diplomatic corps, Companies, European planning, Master's degree.

- Module I: Nature, general characteristics and objectives
The process of integration (assumptions, birth and evolution); the nature of the EU and the founding treaties; European citizenship and human rights into European law, the democratic deficit.
Module II: the EU powers
The principle of conferral of powers; EU competences (types); the exercise of powers (subsidiarity, proportionality, implied powers ..) differentiated integration.
Module III: the Institutions and bodies of the EU
The EU institutions and bodies (overview); the European Parliament (characters, composition, functions, and elections); the European Council; the EU Council of Ministers (characters, structure, functions, voting); the Commission (characters, structure, appointment, functions, distrust); other institutions (ECB, European Court of Auditors ARUE); the EU bodies (committees, EIB, Agencies, ..)
Module IV: legal sources and legislative procedures in the EU
The law sources in general; acts of primary legislation; the general principles of EU law and EU agreements; secondary law acts (types, common characteristics) standard acts of the EU; the ordinary legislative procedure; special legislative procedures, the conclusion of EU agreements, the EU budget (resources, spending, the financial framework)
Module V: juditiary system and relationships with internal systems
The national and European judicial control system; control over the states (infringement procedure); control over the EU acts (annulment, deficiency, validity); preliminary ruling; EU law and the court procedures
