- The course is divided into three parts. After an introduction to fundamental methods, languages and concepts in the study of economics, the first provides some basic concepts of microeconomics (Firms theory and market equilibrium). The second part analyzes some peculiarities of the agricultural enterprise, with reference to the Italian context; in particular, it will analyze the figure of the entrepreneur farmer, the factors of production in agriculture, the income statement and the balance sheet and efficiency indices. The third part is a quick
discussion of agricultural policies, with a focus on the EU one and on the first pillar particularly. - Reference texts

- Educational objectives
- The course aims to provide students with the basic skills to analyze production and entrepreneurial choices, to understand the economic analysis of farm management, as well as the problems and methods of planning and choosing corporate investments. Through this the student will acquire the knowledge, analysis tools, and management techniques necessary to understand the phenomena related to the agricultural enterprise.
- Prerequisites
- Knowledge of basic mathematics concepts is required, which the student should already have from high school or make up for with the mathematics exam.
- Teaching methods
- Lectures on all course topics, in-depth seminars on specific topics; practical exercises (exercises, data processing, etc.); flipped lessons may be organized on topics of interest to students, carried out by groups
- Learning verification modality
- The student's assessment takes place through a written test which is accompanied by an oral interview in which the topics of the written test are deepened. The writing consists of 8 open questions and 2 exercises; it lasts one hour. In-progress tests will be conducted throughout the year to allow for student self-assessment.
