- The course in Social Research Methodology provide basis for projecting and conducting empirical sociale research. It also seeks to empower students to critically analyze a research. Principal contents: scientific problem formulation; epistemology and methodology of social research; quantity and quality in social research; data sources; techniques for data collection and analysis.

- The expected results concern knowledge and skills related to the epistemological and methodological themes of social research; the design of social research; the sources of information and data and the research techniques; the management and the presentation of the results of the research.
Furthermore, with regard to knowledge and understanding, objective is the achievement of the ability to apply knowledge for elaboration of a research design and, in detail, for the use of social research techniques and tools. Regarding the
autonomy of judgment, understood as the ability to produce autonomous judgments, the objective is the ability to articulate, in a methodologically based way, coherent reflections on social issues. With reference to communication skills, objective is the ability to convey information, ideas, problems and methodological solutions. With reference to learning ability, the goal is to have the necessary ability to advance in studies and social research with a high degree of autonomy. - Prerequisites

In case a student intends to anticipate his/her exam in a year preceding the one it is scheduled in his/her curriculum, it is recommended to anticipate as well the attendance of the lessons and to schedule the exam in the first useful session after the lessons have been concluded. - Extended program
