| Contents | The course will deal with the fundamental topics of Social Psychology starting from the presentation of the main theories and illustrating their applications to the main phenomena of human-social behavior. Particular emphasis will be given to current issues such as: sexism, xenophobic behaviour, violence and possible interventions to combat certain forms of behavior which can lead to social deviance |
| Reference texts | The reference text for the exam is: Myers D.G., Twenge J.M., Marta E., Pozzi M (2022) Psicologia Sociale. McGrawHill IV edition. The reference texts are valid for all students who will have to take the exam, attending, non-attending, workers, students with disabilities and/or DSA. |
| Educational objectives | The objectives of the course are defined as follows with reference to the following domains: Knowledge and understanding: allow the student to know the basic principles of social psychology, the main models of the discipline that explain people's attitudes, thoughts, and social behavior. Application of knowledge: allow the student to acquire psychosocial reading skills of events relating to human functioning (stereotypes, prejudices, group relations, conformism, social influence). Autonomy of judgement: the student will be able to integrate the knowledge acquired at a theoretical level with the specificity of concrete cases to understand human functioning. Communication: the student will acquire specific terminology that will allow him to communicate with interlocutors who are specialists (and non-specialists) in the sector and/or in an interdisciplinary manner. Ability to learn: the student will develop the ability to independently study and search for specialist material in the sector, also through the use of bibliographic research in sector databases, and psychosocial research. The main objective of the course is that students master the specialized language of the discipline and that they have acquired the main theoretical paradigms and methodological assumptions underlying psychosocial behavior and both basic and applied psychosocial research. Another expected objective is the ability to recognize the main motivational and cognitive processes that are activated in intra- and intergroup interaction |
| Prerequisites | In order to understand the theoretical intervention models proposed in class, it is important that the student has listening and understanding skills |
| Teaching methods | Lectures, exercises, presentation of research. Seminars by invitation of experts (if possible). Participated activities with students in the classroom (if possible). |
| Other information | During the course the student will be able to check the teaching material and any announcements/communications from the teacher on UniStudium. |
| Learning verification modality | There is a final evaluation which consists of a written exam of 25 multiple choice questions and an open question with a maximum score of 6 points. The test will last 40 minutes. The test serves to ascertain the level of knowledge and the ability to understand, as well as synthesis, achieved by the student. Furthermore, the written test, especially through the open question, will allow you to verify the student's ability to communicate what has been acquired with method, language and presentation skills. Evaluation criteria: - Closed questions: 1 point for correct answer / 0 points for wrong or missing answer Final grade: sum of the scores. The minimum and sufficient score to pass the exam is 18. The correct answer for each multiple choice question is 1 point and for the open question a maximum of 6 points. The sum of the individual scores can lead to a maximum final score of 31 (30 with honors) Students with disabilities and/or DSA will have up to a maximum of 30% more time available to carry out the test and will be able to use any compensatory tools.
