- Assembly processes and products
Architecture of multi-part products. Functional and technological analysis of parts and assemblies. Modular products. Joining processes based on welding and glueing. Assembly processes. Design for assembly. Manual and automated assembly, elements of flexible manufacturing.

- Metals and metal alloys
Atomic structure of pure metals and metal alloys. Crystalline structures, FCC, BCC and HCP configurations. Types of binary metal alloys: substitutional and interstitial solid solutions, intermetallic compounds. Metal alloys with full or partial solubility. Phase diagrams. Mechanical properties of metals and metal alloys. Traction, compression, bending, and other mechanical tests.

- Casting processes
Metal and metal alloys cooling and solidification. Uniform and directional solidification. Generation and growth of dendritic structures, analysis of phase concentration and composition during solidification of metal alloys. Microstructure of cast products. Shape, size and orientation of grains. Expendable mold casting processes: sand casting, shell molding, lost wax casting and lost foam casting. Permanent mold casting: die casting. Quantitative analysis of part solidification and cooling. Heath transfer, thermal modules, shrinkage defects. Placement and dimensioning of feeder systems and gravity filling systems.

- Forming processes.
Fundamentals of elastic and plastic deformation, stress-strain behavior. Forging processes: open die, impression die and closed die. Direct and indirect extrusion processes. Drawing processes. Rolling processes: flat rolling and shape rolling. Sheet metal forming: punching, blanking, bending, drawing.

- Machining processes.
Fundamentals of cutting mechanics and chip formation. Geometry of the cutting tool. Tool wear. Evaluation of machining power and cycle time. Turning processes: architecture of the lathe; cylindrical and flat turning. Milling processes: architecture of a mill; slab milling, face milling and end milling. Machining processes for hole fabrication. Non-conventional machining: water jet cutting, laser cutting.
