Learning verification modality
Oral exams. The exam will have a 40 min duration aiming to ascertain the knowledge level acquired by the student. In particular, the student will demonstrate to know the legislation about the registration and the use of pesticides, the risks for the environment related to the use of pesticides and the best practices to reduce the risk. Moreover, the student will have to know the natural products used as biopesticides and their mechanisms.
The exam allows to verify if the student is able to develop independent solutions to apply the best techniques to minimize the risk for the environment deriving from the use of pesticides.
The dates are available in the web site of the DSA3.
Extended program
Chemical and functional classification of pesticides. European registration of pesticides and risk assessment. Fate and behavior of pesticides in soil-water-plant system. Pesticide sorption on soil: adsorption isotherms and adsorption mechanisms. Degradation of pesticides in soil and water: abiotic and biotic degradation. Degradation of pesticides in plants. Leaching of pesticides in soil and modeling. Fate and behavior of pesticides in surface water. Main classes of herbicides. Metabolism of herbicides. Main classes of fungicides. Main classes of insecticides. Natural pesticides: Biopesticides of plants origin. Biopesticides of microbial origin. Methods of pesticides analysis in various matrices.
