In the academic year 2024/25 the University of Perugia has provided for 11 categories of students to be admitted to attending lectures on line (DaD). Students who may be interested are invited to check the possibility of attending DaD lectures at the site on DAD Procedure - University of Perugia.
Students with disabilities and/or DSA may request course materials in accessible formats, provided, if necessary, in advance of the lectures, as well as the use of other technological tools to facilitate study. For general information, these students are invited to consult the University Services at https://lettere.unipg.it/home/disabilità-e-dsa and contact the Department Contact Person (Prof. Alessandra Di Pilla). - Other information
- The students will attend two parts: a theoretical part of the course concerning the linguistics and translatological analysis of the language that lasts one semester; and a practical part of the course that is taught at the CLA (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo) and lasts the whole year (both semesters, 80 hours, classes for students enrolled in the degree course in Foreign Languages and Cultures) aimed at learning and practising the English language. The objective of this practical part of the course is to achieve a B2 level of language knowledge.
International language certification (considered valid for two years only for the entrance exam) does not exempt the student from the final course exam held at the end of the annual language courses at the CLA. This examination is mandatory to access the theoretical part of the exam with your Professor in the Department.
Students with disabilities and/or DSA: for all information go to https://lettere.unipg.it/home/disabiltà-e-dsa and contact the Departmental Contact Person (Prof. Alessandra Di Pilla). - Learning verification modality
- - Final oral examination: an interview in English (about 20 minute length) on the topics covered in the course, aimed at ascertaining the acquisition by the student of the notions and concepts presented, as well as his/her ability to discuss them in spoken academic English.
- Final written examination: a test (about 2 hour length) on the topics covered in the course aimed at ascertaining the acquisition by the student of the notions and concepts presented, as well as his/her ability to communicate them in written academic English.
The CLA test is obligatory to sit for the exam. The result of the CLA test contributes to the final grade.
Students with disabilities and/or DSA may take advantage of the compensatory tools, dispensatory measures and inclusive technologies provided for by the regulations, to be requested in advance of the test. For information see https://www.unipg.it/disabilita-e-dsa and contact the Departmental Contact Person for Disability and DSA (Prof. Alessandra Di Pilla alessandra.dipilla@unipg.it). - Extended program
- The course focuses on second langiage acquisition theories and on research data concerning the acquisition of English as a second language. A module concentrates on the application of linguistic theories to the acquisition of translation competence and on English to Italian translation practice.
The main linguistic theories explaining L2 acquisition and their application to the sequential acquisition of English L2 will be discussed, with the aim of fostering the development of the metalinguistic reflection and awareness necessary for L2 language acquisition.
