- The developments of advanced materials has become a crucial task in modern society and finds variegated applications in many fields such as energetics, electronics, catalysis, medicine. The aim of this course is to analyze, both from the theoretical and experimental point of view, materials' characteristics and to rationalize how they impact on the properties of the material. In particular, it will be analyzed in the detail how optical, electronic and structural characteristics of some kind of materials reflect on their properties. Experimental applications in the field of diodes, energy storage and in the field of heterogeneous catalysis will be discussed in details.
- Reference texts
- Slides provides by the professors.
- Educational objectives
- The course has the aim to provide the students with the fundamdamental knowledges to understand how materials are made, where their properties come from and how they can be controlled and engineered to be used for novel application fields.
- Prerequisites
- Foundations of inorganic chemistry, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics and spectroscopy.
- Teaching methods
- The course is divided in two parts, a theoretical and an applicative one. Both parts will include frontal lectures and experiences in the lab.
- Other information
- Slides used during the lectures will be provided on-line by the professors.
- Learning verification modality
- The exam will consist in an oral interview with the two professors of the course regarding the topics treated during the lectures.
