Contents The module aims to provide the student with the concepts of clinical and instrumental evaluation of cardiorespiratory pathologies, as well as the knowledge and application of manual and instrumental techniques used in the rehabilitation of patients with cardiorespiratory pathologies and the main outcome measures

Educational objectives At the end of the course, the student must be able to recognize: signs and symptoms of cardiorespiratory pathologies - the methods of clinical and instrumental evaluation and of the disabilities connected to them; setting up an adequate rehabilitation program taking into account the difference between adult and child. The student will also have to demonstrate knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms and the application of the main bronchial unblocking techniques both in the patient in the acute and chronic phases
Prerequisites The student must possess the notions general principles of physiology and pathophysiology of the main cardio-respiratory pathologies of rehabilitation interest
Teaching methods The course is organized in lectures with active and constant participation between teacher and students. Practical exercises on the main assessment tests, training methods and techniques clearing of both manual and instrumental airways .. (teaching theoretical/practical)
Other information Nothing to declare
Learning verification modality The exam includes an oral test lasting about 15 minutes aimed at verifying the acquisition of the knowledge and practical skills contained in the program. Furthermore, he/she must be able to present using clinical reasoning regarding programs carried out in class.
Extended program 1. Definition, indications, objectives of cardio-respiratory rehabilitation. Brief review on the concepts of anatomy, physiology and respiratory insufficiency
2. Cardio-Respiratory Rehabilitation: evaluation of the patient, hints of COPD and classification through evaluation scales and field tests
3. exercise training: endurance training and peripheral muscle training Respiratory muscle training
4. Unblocking physiopathological principles: Peripheral unblocking techniques: Forced Expiration Technique (FET) Active Cycle of Respiratory Techniques (ACBT); Slow Total Expiration with Open Glottis in Lateral Decubitus (ELTGOL); EDIC, Expiratory Positive Pressure (PEP Mask, PEP-bottle, Acappella); SpirometryIncentive. Cough assistance in the neuromuscular patient, Air-staking
5. Respiratory rehabilitation in major surgery (thoracic, cardiac and abdominal surgery) rehabilitation in the main respiratory pathologies: COPD, mucoviscidosis, bronchiectasis, asthma
6. high/low flow oxygen therapy systems, invasive and non-invasive, rehabilitation differences between adults and children, clinical cases, technical review
