- Educational objectives
- The main knowledge acquired will concern the basic functionality and evolution of the visual system and the methods in the optometric field for the evaluation of ametropias, accommodative and binocular function. Basic skills will be trained to conduct a refractive-binocular examination independently.
The main skills that we aim to transmit concern:
Knowing how to conduct an optometric survey
Recognize the importance of an adequate anamnestic collection and know how to identify the contents
Knowing how to identify and administer subjective and objective optometric tests.
Knowing how to interpret the results of the optometric examination and of the refractive - binocular examination in order to reach an adequate conclusion of the examination.
Knowing how to integrate medical - ophthalmological / specialist information into the clinical practice.
Knowing how to define the intervention technique appropriate to the case. - Teaching methods
- The course is articulated in
1) Theoretical lessons
2) Laboratory activities - Learning verification modality
- Oral test to ascertain: i) the ability to understand the theoretical contents of the course (Dublin descriptor 1), ii) the ability to expose and correctly apply theoretical knowledge (Dublin descriptor 2), iii) Ability to autonomously formulate appropriate judgments and observations on possible alternative model (Dublin descriptor 3), iv) the ability in effective and pertinent written communication (Dublin 4 descriptor)
- Extended program
- Refractive anomalies (ametropias), accommodative system and accommodation, binocular system.
