- Anatomy and pathophysiology of the orbit, eyelids, cornea, lens, hydrodynamics, retina and optic nerve, with particular reference to the ocular surface and the structures of the anterior segment. Pathophysiology of ocular motility and fundamentals of low vision and visual rehabilitation.

- Educational objectives
- The main objective of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge to understand the pathogenesis of ocular eye diseases, the methods of evaluating ocular structures and the best diagnostic strategies. Particular attention will be paid to changes in ocular motility and to the management of low vision.
The main skill that the course aims to convey is the knowledge of the main pathologies of the visual apparatus, knowing how to suspect them and being able to refer the patient to the specialist, contributing with him to the prevention of ophthalmic diseases. - Teaching methods

- Oral test to ascertain: i) the ability to understand the theoretical contents of the course (Dublin descriptor 1), ii) the ability to expose and correctly apply theoretical knowledge (Dublin descriptor 2), iii) Ability to autonomously formulate appropriate judgments and observations on possible alternative model (Dublin descriptor 3), iv) the ability in effective and pertinent written communication (Dublin 4 descriptor).
