- This course offers an in-depth exploration of prejudice and discrimination, beginning with a theoretical foundation that covers essential definitions, social categorization processes, psychosocial theories of cognitive and motivational mechanisms, and both overt and hidden forms of prejudice. Building on this framework, the course then adopts a specific-though not exclusive -focus on biases tied to gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity, alongside systemic discrimination and violence targeting women and LGBTQIA+ communities. Further analysis examines the detrimental effects of sexism on men’s health, the pivotal role of language in reinforcing or challenging stereotypes, and the multifaceted impact of discrimination across individual, interpersonal, and organizational contexts. The teaching approach integrates lectures, guided discussions, and real-world case studies, equipping participants with concrete tools to identify, critically analyze, and actively counter discrimination in professional and everyday settings.
