- The course is organised, in an initial part, to provide context on EU policies and the different types of EU funding, with a focus on project design in order to gain direct knowledge of the various planning tools.
A second part consists of a study visit to the European Union institutions in Brussels, aimed at understanding how they function and at meeting graduates involved in European policies. - Reference texts

- Educational objectives
- The course is aimed at providing basic knowledge on how the European Union works and at promoting awareness of the funding opportunities offered by the European Commission, in order to strengthen professional skills in the design and management of EU-funded projects.
The European Union implements policies and financial support programmes with the aim of enhancing the economic, social, and cultural development and integration of its Member States.
These funding opportunities can be accessed through the development and implementation of projects promoted by various actors within the economic system, including businesses, associations, financial institutions, and public bodies, either individually or in partnership with one another. - Prerequisites

- Teaching methods
- Practical lessons on European project planning.
Two-day study visit to Brussels - Other information
- The study trip to Brussels is mandatory. The costs of the study trip are borne by the student. For classroom lessons (10 hours), attendance is mandatory for 75% of the lessons.
- Learning verification modality
- The final exam is based on:
A) project work (to be submitted 5 days before the final exam);
B) a test:
- 30 multiple-choice questions;
- 3 open-ended questions. - Extended program
- First part:
Practical lessons on European project design (10 hours)
- techniques and methodology for drafting European projects;
- monitoring and selection of funding opportunities;
- lead partner, partnership, and project management structures;
- structuring a project into work packages;
- project application forms for direct EU programmes;
- structuring and presenting the project budget and financial reporting;
- project reporting;
- practical exercises based on case studies and application forms from recent or ongoing calls.
Second part:
Two-day study visit to Brussels
- visits to EU institutions: European Parliament, European Commission, European Economic and Social Committee;
- visits to agricultural associations based in Brussels: Coldiretti, IFOAM;
