Contents
Lessons will focus on the analytical categories necessary to understand and to answer the fundamental questions posed by XXth century political history, from an italian and european perspective. The teaching will focus on international migration.

For attending students, there is a specific programme.

Educational objectives
Ability to employ the conceptual tools and analytical categories used during lessons, knowledge of major historical facts and their immediate and remote causes and consquences, correct use and knowledge of historical maps, ability to critically and autonomously organize textbook content and to recognize the historical roots of contemporary conflicts and social problems.
Prerequisites
This course will introduce the main themes of contemporary history, therefore no prerequisites are requested although a sound knowledge of historical events in Italy and Europe in the 19th and 20th century is required. The following text is recommended: L. Caracciolo, A. Roccucci, Storia contemporanea. Dal mondo europeo al mondo senza centro, Le Monnier Università-Mondadori Education, Milano, 2017.

Face to face lessons, seminars, dvd projections, tests.

There will be some conferences.
Learning verification modality
The exam is for an intermediate written test and an oral exam at the end of the course.

Exams will ascertain the ability to correctly expose and critically evaluate facts, periodizations, interpretations, causes and consequences of historical facts.

The history of the international migration is the true core of the course.
