Contents This module explores the principles of architectural composition as applied to public spaces and temporary installations. It will examine in depth the themes of nomadic architecture, urban interventions, XXS architecture, the temporary reuse of spaces, the relationships among architecture, art, and urban communication, as well as design strategies focused on sustainability, accessibility, and the enhancement of the built environment.
Reference texts The module aims to promote critical reading of contemporary architecture and design magazines among students.

Educational objectives By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Knowledge and understanding (DD1)
* understand the principles of architectural composition as applied to public spaces and temporary installations;
* understand the role of temporary architecture in the processes of transformation, enhancement and revitalisation of urban spaces.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding (DD2)
* apply analytical and design methodologies to define temporary and reversible interventions in existing urban contexts;
* develop design proposals capable of integrating functional, communicative, social and environmental aspects.

Autonomy of judgement (DD3)
* critically evaluate the relationships between architecture, public space, art and urban communication;
* identify innovative design strategies focused on temporality, reuse and sustainability.

Communication skills (DD4)
* effectively represent and communicate design ideas through drawings, models and oral presentations;
* justify the design choices made using appropriate disciplinary language.

Learning skills (DD5)
* independently integrate theoretical references, case studies and design tools in the development of complex temporary interventions.
Prerequisites There are no formal prerequisites. A basic understanding of architectural representation, the fundamental principles of spatial design, and the built environment is required.
Teaching methods The course combines theoretical lectures, critical analysis of national and international case studies, in-depth seminar discussions and practical workshop activities. The lectures are complemented by multimedia presentations that explore the themes of architectural composition, temporary installations, and the transformations of contemporary public space.
Practical activities take the form of progressive design exercises, individual and group reviews, and opportunities for critical discussion of students’ work. The course consistently integrates theoretical reflection and design experimentation to develop a design proposal aligned with the assigned theme.
Other information Attendance at laboratory sessions is strongly recommended, given the course's progressive and project-based nature. Supplementary teaching materials, additional bibliographical references, and practical guidance for the project-based exercise will be provided by the lecturer during the course. Students are required to attend the scheduled reviews and to submit the required assignments in accordance with the procedures outlined during the lectures.
Learning verification modality Learning is assessed through an evaluation process comprising ongoing project-based exercises, the preparation of a final project and the associated oral presentation.
The final examination consists of the presentation and critical discussion of the project work developed during the course, and an assessment of the theoretical knowledge acquired.

The final mark is expressed out of 30 and is broken down as follows:
* 30% ongoing exercises and assessments;
* 50% final project;
* 20% oral discussion.

The assessment takes the following criteria into account:
* quality and coherence of the design proposal;
* ability to apply the principles of architectural composition;
* critical maturity in the analysis of urban contexts;
* graphic and communicative quality of the design work;
* clarity of expression and mastery of theoretical content.

Grades are awarded in accordance with the grading scale adopted by the degree programme.
Extended program The course offers a theoretical and design-based programme dedicated to temporary architecture and urban installations, viewed as tools for transforming and enhancing public space.

The programme is structured into the following teaching units:

Unit 1 – Architectural Composition and Urban Space
* Principles of architectural composition applied to the contemporary city; relationships between form, space and collective use.

Unit 2 – Temporary Architecture and Nomadism
* Origins and evolution of temporary architecture; reversible, adaptive and lightweight design strategies.

Module 3 – Urban Interventions and XXS Architecture
* Small-scale interventions, parasitic architecture, building within the built environment, and urban regeneration practices.

Module 4 – Art, Communication and Public Space
* Installations, urban art, street art, parkour and new forms of appropriation of collective space.

Unit 5 – Accessibility, sustainability and reuse
* Design strategies focused on land conservation, temporary reuse, and environmental and social sustainability.

Unit 6 – Design workshop
* Development of the annual design project through analysis, concept development, proposal formulation and periodic reviews.

Educational objectives The teaching is the first experience of confrontation with legal subjects of the students, as well as the only one.In fact, the subjects under examination will be taken up and deepened only in the course of future professional experience, for which they will be indispensable. The main knowledge acquired will be:1) knowledge of the essential contents of planning procedures, state and regional. In particular, p.r.g. and implementation plans2) knowledge of the essential contents of the regulation of construction activity, through the rules of the Consolidated Text of Construction3) knowledge of the systems of implementation of public works.4) Essential principles in the field of landscape and environmental assets. 5) Essential principles of environmental protection.
As for the main skills, understood as the ability to apply the knowledge acquired, the teaching objective is to provide students with the ability to read the legal tools for engineering, architecture and urban design, enabling them to know how to interpret, beyond the contingent regulatory datum, the administrative procedures cole
Prerequisites It's the only juridical subject through the 5 years, so it's not necessary having a preliminary Knowledge about urban law or public procurements law. The first lessons are dedicated to the general principles of the Italian and European law. In this way, every student can have the preliminary knowledges useful for a successful comprehension of the subject
Teaching methods Lectures and power point presentation
Other information Nothing
Learning verification modality the test consists of an oral examination; the questions cover the syllabus as described by the lecturer(s) in the relevant sheet, having regard to knowledge of the subject matter, reasoning ability, logicality of argumentation and learning of the methodology specific to the individual teaching. To facilitate students in the completion of this course, the lecturer makes available on the unistudium page of the course focuses to progressively assess preparation, which will also be reviewed in class. This method is strongly recommended because it helps in successfully completing the teaching and learning path. the duration of the exam varies according to the progress of the test
Extended program The course aims to provide the basic knowledge of legal disciplines related to engineering, architecture and urban design. Since this is a specialized subject and the first curricular experience in legal subjects, the study is preceded by a brief examination of the sources of law, domestic and EU, in order to identify and understand the tools necessary for understanding the specialized content. The first part of the course is devoted to the study of planning law: its place in the system of sources and, in particular, in the Constitution will be analyzed. This is followed by the study of planning activity (by directives - general - implementation) and the regulation of building activity. A brief examination will be made of regional legislative experiences in both planning and building matters in order to identify concrete application models of the principles set at the state level.The second part of the course is devoted to the study of public works legislation and some essential content related to the regulation of landscape and cultural heritage.
