- At the end of the module, the student will be able to identify the specificity of the childcare approach to the baby and the newborn with health problems, differences with the adult patient and the importance
of the role of the family in the process of recovering the child's health. It will be able to define the peculiarities in carrying out assistance techniques in the specific setting, choosing less appropriate traumatic modes, and establishing an appropriate relationship according to the different ages of the child. It will also define the needs, priorities and major care interventions in the most frequent pathological conditions in the pediatric field. - Prerequisites
- Anatomy and physiopathology of the baby and the infant.
- Teaching methods
- Frontal lessons and interactive moments with the use of audio / visual didactic aids and dummies

- Evolution of pediatric nursing as a separate discipline. Nursing process in pediatrics.
- Assistance to the healthy newborn in the context of low intensity care, management of premature or pathological neonates in a context of medium and high intensity care (neonatal disease and neonatal intensive care).

- The concept of "Family Centered Care" and its applications in the clinic in a context of humanization of care; Kangaroo Mother Care.
- Pain in the child: assessment tools, containment techniques and pain control in the child.
