- Aspects of topography and urbanism in Ancient Greece and Rome.
The foundation and urban development of Greek and Roman cities (e.g., Athens, Poseidonia–Paestum, Rome, Pompeii, Ostia, etc.). - Reference texts

- The course aims to provide students with an adequate grounding in the fields of Greek and Roman topography and urbanism.

- A basic knowledge of Greek and Roman archaeology and history.

- Students are expected to attend class regularly.

- Oral examination (approximately 15 minutes) on the topics covered during the course.

- In the introductory part of the course, general topics will be addressed, including the knowledge and use of ancient sources (literary, epigraphic, archaeological, and iconographic), building techniques, and road systems.
The course will then examine the origins and development of territories and cities through the analysis of significant case studies, including Athens, Sparta, Pergamon, Metapontum, Poseidonia–Paestum, Rome (Republican and Imperial periods), Pompeii, and Ostia.
