| Educational objectives | The student must have knowledge about the structure of agricultural machinery and the main work organs and how these interact with the soil and crops. He must also know the individual components of the company plants (feeding, milking and waste plants), their location in the farm, their purpose and the problems relating to their malfunction. In this way he must be able to recognize where to intervene in the system if it does not function properly. The student must know the operating machines in the field used for the production of animal feeds and know how to indicate their purposes, therefore knowing how to choose the most suitable machines for certain operations. |
| Prerequisites | There are no preparatory exams, however the knowledge of basic concepts of subjects such as mathematics and physics is recommended, in order to facilitate the understanding and learning of the course contents |
| Teaching methods | The teaching method used will consist of classroom lectures, in which the topics covered will be illustrated. In this regard, lecture notes will be distributed by the teacher to facilitate learning. Lectures will be interspersed with exercises, in which the illustrated subjects will be resumed, which will be explained with reference to practical cases, which will also be solved with the use of numerical examples, in order to convey to the student a greater mastery of the topics. |

| Learning verification modality | The learning assessment will be conducted with an oral exam lasting about 40 minutes, aimed to establish the level of knowledge of the subject. There will be at least two questions about agricultural machinery and three questiones about the plantes present in the livestock farm |

| Contents | The module addresses the design and management of livestock production buildings through the development of an Archicad-based case study project. No prior experience with the software is required, as participants will be introduced to the fundamental CAD/BIM tools needed to complete the project. |

| Educational objectives | This course provides students with their first introduction to design-related topics. Its overall aim is to develop an understanding of the principles of design and representation as applied to livestock production buildings, and to enable students to manage the key elements involved in their planning and development. By the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge of: The functions and construction typologies of the main livestock production buildings; Typical layouts and spatial organization of productive facilities; General design principles and guidelines for livestock production buildings; Basic CAD/BIM concepts and tools. Students will also develop the ability to: Understand the fundamental spatial and functional requirements of major livestock production buildings; Identify and consult relevant regulatory and voluntary standards for the sizing, design, and evaluation of livestock facilities; Develop a three-dimensional project in a BIM environment, including a navigable 3D model, and present it through basic technical drawings such as floor plans, elevations, and sections. |
| Prerequisites | No prerequisite exams are required for this course. No prior knowledge of the software used in class (Archicad) is necessary, as basic CAD/BIM tool skills will be provided for this purpose. A free one-year license will be provided. |
| Teaching methods | The course begins with introductory lectures to explain key concepts, followed by practical/theoretical sessions aimed at developing a 3D livestock building project in class. During these sessions, additional key concepts related to livestock buildings will be covered. |

| Learning verification modality | The course requires the submission of a BIM project, including an explanatory PDF report with design drawings and the 3D model of a livestock building agreed upon with the teacher. |

Voluntary certification pathways that influence the sizing and organization of livestock buildings. BIM software features and Archicad functionalities. During the hands-on software training in class, the following topics will also be covered: Introduction to livestock building systems THI (Temperature Humidity Index) and species-specific thermal comfort Lighting Functional spaces, biosecurity rules, and animal welfare requirements impacting livestock buildings Sizing of livestock buildings Characteristics of spaces following a One Health approach Sizing and functional organization rules based on the optimal level of Classyfarm certification Materials and equipment Definition of the internal configuration of main building units, identifying functional design solutions for the housing of key livestock species, based on production requirements and animal welfare. |
