| Educational objectives | The course aims to provide students with the basis for the sustainable design of public and private green areas. The main knowledge acquired will be: - relationship between design and environment; - dynamics of nutrients in the soil and the needs of plants; - characteristics of fertilizers and growing media; - techniques to realize green areas; - needs of ornamental plants and use as a function of the pedoclimatic scenario of the destination. - new eco-sustainable solutions for the management and maintenance of green areas. The main skills will be: - to know design strategies with low environmental impact; - to know how to evaluate the main physico-chemical characteristics of soil; - to find information from the customer for planning the work; - to analyze the site and draw up the project schedule; - to choose the most suitable plant species for the place; - to plan the management/maintenance of public and private green areas. |
| Prerequisites | Basic knowledge of chemistry and biology. |
| Teaching methods | Lectures Classroom exercises Seminars |
| Other information | Reception hours to be agreed with the teacher at the following institutional e-mail address: daniela.pezzolla@unipg.it Venue: Office (E/01) of Prof. Daniela Pezzolla, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Via Duranti, 93. For information on support services for students with disabilities and/or SLD, visit the page http://www.unipg.it/disabilita-e-dsa |
| Learning verification modality | The learning test will be carried out through a written and oral exam to be held on the dates available on the Exam Calendar published on the DICA website. The written test consists of open-ended questions and will last 60 minutes, while the oral test consists of a discussion lasting approximately 15 minutes, aimed at assessing the student's level of knowledge on the topics covered in the module. If the student intends to anticipate the exam in a previous year to the one scheduled in the study plan, it is recommended to attend the cycle of lessons and to take the exam in the first useful session after the lessons have ended, thus respecting the semester of teaching planning. |
| Extended program | Provide students with the necessary skills in the perspective of a sustainable design for the environment Program: - sustainable resource management and ecodesign; - soil chemical characteristics and nutrients for plants; - principles of plant physiology (root absorption and chlorophyll photosynthesis); - soilless crops; - techniques for creating green areas (meadows, flowerbeds, hedges, vertical greenery, hanging greenery) and choosing plants based on their intended use; - maintenance of green areas. |
| Obiettivi Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile | This teaching contributes to the achieve the ONU objectives of the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development. |
