Educational objectives	The course aims to provide students with the tools to analyse, understand and modify the interior environments of living spaces for frail persons. To this end, the teaching mainly aims: to provide the student with theoretical and analytical knowledge, mainly aimed at acquiring knowledge of the evolution of residential structures and the acquisition of a rigorous analysis methodology; to provide the student with technical and design knowledge, mainly aimed at acquiring a knowledge of the minimum design requirements as well as a critical capacity for their application in specific contexts.
Teaching methods	The course is divided into theoretical lectures, design activities and specialised seminars.
Learning verification modality	The examination includes an individual oral test focusing on the discussion of theoretical content and the presentation of design activities. These tests are aimed at ascertaining the level of cognitive, critical and relational skills, as well as the ability to use the technical disciplinary language. The colloquium will take place at one of the scheduled exam sessions on the dates previously published on the Department's website (https://ing1.unipg.it/).
Extended program	Acquire knowledge of the different types of housing, both in the national and international contexts; acquire a basic knowledge of regulations and standards for the design of living spaces; learn the criteria for analysing and evaluating design solutions; to acquire knowledge of the principles of Universal Design and the emotional aspects associated with them; to acquire knowledge of design criteria and strategies to improve living conditions and the use of interior spaces; develop an awareness of the centrality assumed by the issue of emergency housing, both in the national and international context.

Contents	The course will explore the aspects of architectural design that pertain to the interplay between internal and external spaces in the context of special dwellings and non-residential architectural types. The course will acquaint students with the design through targeted lectures based on specific case studies and the following literature.

Educational objectives	The course aims at providing methods and interpretative-evaluative strategies for developing design skills at the scale of interior design through the control of compositional techniques and increasing knowledge of special types of dwelling and living.
Prerequisites	Knowledge of techniques of design’s graphic representation.
Teaching methods	The educational activity includes lectures, guided exercises, revisions, and moments sharing the various work steps of students. Both individual and collective revisions are expected.

Learning verification modality	The exam is preceded by the evaluation of the practical individual and/or group exercises, which are mandatory to take the exam. It consists of an oral test dedicated to the presentation of the teaching path carried out during the various exercise activities, referring to the texts suggested, and the theoretical references studied. The course consists of a variety of activities, including lectures, some delivered by invited professors, extempore exercises, in-situ exercises (outside of the classroom), practical activities within the classroom, and group corrections, revisions, and discussions. Lectures will deal with the issue of "what is home" in a broad sense, opening questions about inhabiting spaces. We will explore the design in a "from inside to outside" manner, emphasizing a compositional process that begins with the internal spaces and extends to the external ones, and vice versa. We will delve deeper into the dwelling issue, focusing on vulnerable and impoverished individuals.

We will analyze spaces of worship, therapeutic spaces (hospitals), work spaces (offices), temporary dwelling spaces (hotels), and educational spaces (schools), among others. We will delve deeper into the dwelling issue, focusing on vulnerable and impoverished individuals.
