Educational objectives


Ability to understand the biology and pathophysiology and the mechanisms underlying the haematological abnormalities.

Ability to interpret laboratory tests related to hematology.

Prerequisites


To be able to understand and face the course, the student must have passed with huge success the exam preparatory described in the regulation on the degree course. knowledge, in fact, of general knowledge of anatomy, physiology and general pathology is a prerequisite for the student who wants to follow the course with profit.

Written exam with multiple choice questions: 15 questions with only 1 correct answer possible each.

Educational objectives Notions of the specific care needs of cancer patients, with particular
reference to: supportive therapies;
problems related to the diagnosis and treatment of the most frequent
neoplasms. This course is planned and conducted with the main aim to enable students developing specific nursing care plans

Extended program 1) Definition of cancer; epidemiology and risk factors; primary prevention
in the general population and in patients at risk; secondary prevention:
screening tests
2) Tumor diagnosis and TNM staging; principles of locoregional therapy
(surgery and radiotherapy); 3) general concepts of systemic anti-tumor
therapy with reference to chemotherapy, hormone therapy, molecular
target therapy, immunotherapy
4) Extravasation of antineoplastic drugs
Main organ toxicities of systemic therapies and their management with
particular reference to bone marrow toxicity, gastrointestinal toxicity,
skin toxicity; autoimmune toxicity during immunotherapy
5) Pain therapy: epidemiology, classification of pain in oncology, pain

6) Oncological emergencies with reference to space-occupying
syndromes (superior vena cava syndrome, spinal cord compression, brain

Educational objectives Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

Understand the methodological approach to the main nosological conditions of interest in uro-andrology, with particular reference to their relevance to healthcare.
Recognize the signs and symptoms of the main urological and andrological diseases.
Describe the main etiopathogenetic processes and understand their clinical impact.
Formulate an initial healthcare/diagnostic hypothesis based on the nursing assessment.
Identify appropriate diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, functional tests) and collaborate with the physician in interpreting the results.
Critically correlate symptoms, physical signs, functional alterations, instrumental findings, and anatomical-pathological aspects of the main urological and andrological diseases.
Know the principles of basic therapeutic treatments in uro-andrology and the related preventive, behavioral, rehabilitative, and dietary guidelines.
Prerequisites We consider as preliminary and acquired the following abilities: • to achieve accurately medical history and symptoms, • to know the most common laboratory tests, to identify biochemical profile’s major alterations and to understand of their clinical significance • to know the main maneuvers of general physical examination (inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation of the chest and abdomen).
