| Educational objectives | Knowledge of main activities of Pathological Anatomy. Knowledge of risk factors and pathological bases of main deseases of cardiovascular system. Knowledge of risk factors of colon-rectal cancer. The main practical skills (i.e., the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) include: understanding the appropriate procedures for submitting biological specimens to the Pathological Anatomy and interpreting histopathological and cytological reports. |

| Extended program | Pathologic Anatomy: Historical Background and Current Role within the Healthcare System. The diagnostic autopsy: legal basis and objectives. Clinicopathological correlation (epicrisis) and the clinicopathological method. Biopsy and Diagnostic Cytology. Collection, preservation, fixation, and submission of biopsy and cytological specimens. Intraoperative frozen section examination. Completion of the histopathology request form. Organization and interpretation of the pathology report. Cardiovascular Pathology. Atherosclerosis. | Learning verification modality | Oral exam Following session METHOD OF CONDUCTING THE EXAM: Oral test divided into 2 questions, 1 of which is chosen by the candidate and one chosen by the commission, with a discussion aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge, the ability to understand and summarize achieved by the student as well as verify the acquisition of method, language properties and exposition. The interview is divided into the different thematic areas that characterize the teaching with a duration varying from 15/30 minutes. which varies in relation to the progress of the test itself. Further questions on the minimum necessary knowledge may be asked in the case of unsatisfactory answers to the previous questions. - LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the end of the course the student will be able to: Know the organizational, structural and technological sides of a surgery block; Elaborate nursing care plans for the person undergoing a general and specialized surgical intervention; Warrant the correct preoperative pathway of the surgical patient; Know and correctly perform the procedures applied to the person undergoing a surgical intervention. Manage correctly the main devices used for the surgical patient. Warrant the safety of the patient by preventing the major surgical complications. Warranty the safety of the patient in preventing surgical care-related infections. Train the person in correct management of colonoscopy/ileostomy/urostomy

Phases of preoperative care and building of a care plane for the surgical patient (investigations, nursing diagnoses, interventions, results) 1. Preoperative phase surgical techniques 2. Intraoperative phase manual of operating room safety, objectives and checklist 3. Postoperative phase surveillance and postoperative complications. Structural technological organization of the surgical block, habits in the operating room, specific competences of the anesthesia nurse, of the circulating nurse, of the scrub nurse. Surgical wound dressing, preparation of the sterile field, drains. Surgical instruments and sutures. management and reconditioning of surgical instruments. Caring plans for patient who underwent surgical intervention of: -gastroesophageal disease -bowel disease (patients with stomy) - lung and thyroid disease - breast disease - cardiac surgical disease - orthopedic disease patient with fracture of the femur -Urinary tract diseases and urostomy.
