The analytical bibliography (relating to individual case studies) will be indicated at the beginning of the course. - Educational objectives
- The course aims to provide students with knowledge of
• the aspects and challenges of transmission and tradition, as well as the editing and interpretation of Italian literary texts;
• the skills required to handle copies and originals, from the early period to the 20th century;
• sources, methodologies, and practices, as well as studies and tools at the intersection of philology and history;
• selected case studies.
Students are therefore expected to develop, in the course of the course, certain key competencies and skills (understood as the ability to apply acquired knowledge): the ability to reflect on the aspects and issues of transmission and tradition, as well as the editing and interpretation of Italian literary texts; the ability to identify, describe, apply, and consult sources, methodologies, and tools; the ability to read sources in their original and critical forms; the ability to critically identify the main issues related to the case studies presented. - Prerequisites
- Skills in paleography.
- Teaching methods
- Seminar-style lectures with active student participation.

- Oral exam. The exam consists of an approximately 30-minute interview in which students’ mastery of the specific and methodological content of the course and the reference texts listed in the exam syllabus is assessed.

- The course syllabus covers the discussion of various aspects and issues related to the transmission and tradition, editing, and interpretation of Italian literary texts. Throughout the course, a selection of the most significant case studies—ranging from the origins of Italian literature to the 20th century—will be presented in lectures and discussed in seminars.
