- Review of basic concepts of plant ecology, study of flora and vegetation.
- Reference texts
- Basic Text: F.B. Goldsmith, Monitoring for Conservation and Ecology, Ed. Chapman and Hall. Books and material provided by the teacher essentially study cases. Scientific literature, sitography.
- Educational objectives
- To train the student in a general vision of the problems in order to then promptly intervene on the resources ogject of study or conservation without altering the other components of the ecosystem.
- Prerequisites
- Knowledge of botanical disciplines and basic concepts of vegetation science.
- Teaching methods
- Frontal lessons, practical lessons, field trips and field observations.

- Oral examination, with the possibility of preparing a topic (short thesis).

- Geobotany: the study of flora and vegetation. Chorology, life forms and chorological elements, phenology. The study of vegetation, main methods and techniques, processing of vegetation data collected in the field, and assignment to scientifically described vegetation types using the phytosociological method.
Elements of geobotanical cartography and GIS. Environmental recovery and restoration with reference to plant communities and the European Habitats Directive. Monitoring of Natura 2000 habitats.
