- The course explores the new challenges of the technological age and of the Anthropocene, by analyzing its socio-cultural and anthropological premises and focusing on its main consequences in the regulatory sphere (ethics, law, professional ethics). The part of legal ethics, after a quick historical excursus, reflects on the forensic professions in a teleological and deontological perspective.

- To encourage learners to reflect critically on the benefits and main criticalities of the technological civilization - that by now constitutes the atmosphere in which their lives take place and the regulatory systems develop (juridical and ethical in particular, with specific regarding the legal professions and their complex teleology). This teaching therefore aims to develop the critical ability in the use of technological tools, and preserve especially valuable skills in the field of legal professions (inventiveness and creativity, hermeneutic fidelity, methodological rigor, fairness, responsibility for the consequences of one's decisions and actions, synergy cooperative, etc.).
- Prerequisites
- General knowledge of Western history and philosophy. Passing Philosophy of Law.
- Teaching methods
- Lectures with the aid of slides and any videos and classroom discussions.
- Other information
- Attending students will have the opportunity to take a written self-assessment test at the end of the course, in preparation for the exam and with open-ended questions.
- Learning verification modality
- Oral interview. In the event that the student intends to bring forward the exam to a year prior to the year Scheduled in the study plan, it is recommended to attend the cycle of lectures and to take the exam in the first available session after the lessons are over, thus respecting the semester of the course planning.
- Extended program
- After the analysis of the remote and proximate causes of the emergence of technological civilization (with reflections on the concept of civilization and culture, as well as on that of technique and technology), also in the sense of the so-called Anthropocene, the course will try to develop a critical reading on progress related to computerization and the diffusion of the so-called artificial intelligence in the various sectors of individual and social life; finally, a reflexive analysis of the repercussions of these developments in the field of legal professions and their ethics will be proposed.

- In relation to the UN Agenda 2030 goals, the course provides elements of consideration on VIII (decent work), XV (life on earth) , XVI (peace, justice, accountable and inclusive institutions).
