- Educational objectives
- The main goal of the course is to provide students with the basics to understand the properties of proteins as possible pharmacological targets.
The main skills acquired will be:
-Knowledge of the spatial organization of proteins and the interactions that stabilize it
- Understanding the structure and function of proteins
-Major changes that govern the activity of proteins.
Knowledge of the main proteomic techniques and data analysis of high-throughput omics data. - Prerequisites
- The understanding of most of the topics requires the knowledge of general biochemistry. Knowledge of these issues is a prerequisite for the student who wants to follow the course with profit.
- Teaching methods
- lectures and laboratory activities
- Other information
- Learning verification modality
- Oral exams of theoretical nature, consisting of questions covering the topics addressed. The exam is finalized to demonstrate the knowledge and the understanding of the student.
- Extended program
- Aminoacids, Primary, secondary, tertiary, quaternary structures, modifications that control protein activity.
Omics technologies for protein analysis: sample preparation, mass spectrometry, analysis of post-translational modifications, proximity extension assays, and aptamer-based technologies. Bioinformatic analysis of differential protein expression and functional proteome analysis techniques. - Obiettivi Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile
