- The course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of the urban planning, architecture, and artistic production of the Roman provinces. By the end of the course, students will have acquired a basic knowledge of the historical development of the Roman provinces and of their institutional, economic, and military structures. Through the study of material culture, students will also develop the ability to independently reconstruct and analyze the intercultural dynamics between Rome and the various regions of the Empire.

- A basic knowledge of Roman archaeology and history.
- Teaching methods
- In-person lectures; PowerPoint presentations.

- Attendance is compulsory.
- Learning verification modality
- Oral examination (approximately 15 minutes) on the topics covered during the course.

- The course first provides a basic introduction to topics such as the institutions of the imperial cities, the economy of the Roman Empire, infrastructure, and the role of the army in the Roman provinces.
In the second part of the course, attention will be focused on the most important architecture and monuments of the major provincial cities.
