Educational objectives The course aims to provide students with the skills for educational planning and knowledge of the most relevant aspects of contemporary educational research and the elements that qualify teaching.
Know the specificity and phases of educational planning, in relation to different contexts.
Knowing how to design educational paths and activities considering both the students' previous knowledge and experiences (their learning methods) and the characteristics of the disciplinary contents. Knowing how to observe and analyze the characteristics of the relational dimension of a teaching situation.
Prerequisites To understand and be able to deal with the course as best as possible, students must possess the basic knowledge of General Teaching.
Teaching methods The course is organized as follows:

Learning verification modality In case a student intends to anticipate his/her exam in a year preceding the one it is scheduled in his/her curriculum, it is recommended to anticipate as well the attendance of the lessons and to schedule the exam in the first useful session after the lessons have been concluded.

The exam includes an oral which consists of a discussion-interview on the topics covered during the course and deepened on the recommended texts. The test serves to ascertain the level of knowledge and understanding, as well as synthesis, achieved by the student. Furthermore, this interview will allow to verify the student's ability to communicate what has been acquired with method, properties of language and exposure. The duration of the exam varies according to the progress of the test itself.

The program is identical for attending and non-attending students.

Extended program General teaching and educational planning both in theoretical and operational terms. Particular attention will be paid to deepening the epistemological framework of the different models and approaches relating to teaching, problematizing the underlying ideas of teaching and learning. The key point of analysis and reflection will be that relating to the relationship between experience and learning.

The contribution of Special Education: a historical perspective;
The concepts of Placement, Integration, and Inclusion;
Diversity and differences;
Special Educational Needs (SEN);
Prejudices and stereotypes: the role of knowledge;
International classifications proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) concerning the concept of disability;
National and international legislative frameworks on educational inclusion;
Individualized and personalized educational planning;
Physical activity as an opportunity for “special normality” and participation.

Educational objectives The course aims to promote:

Knowledge and understanding of the discipline;
Independent critical judgment on the topics addressed;
Effective and coherent communication skills;
Critical and reflective learning abilities.

By the end of the course, students will have acquired knowledge of:

the hermeneutic framework underpinning the inclusive perspective;
the methodological foundations for developing inclusive approaches and fostering the integration of children and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN);
the concepts of diversity and difference;
the main classification systems promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for developing a Life Project, taking into account the unique characteristics of individuals with disabilities and their contexts of belonging, starting from the family;
current educational approaches to people with disabilities aimed at promoting increasing autonomy and self-efficacy.

By the end of the course, in terms of capabilities and competencies, students will be able to:

develop inclusive projects by identifying special educational needs and problematic situations, recognizing the roles and competencies of professionals involved, and activating institutional and inter-institutional collaborations;
design educational interventions that connect families, educational and school services, and health and social care services in order to effectively implement a Life Project.

The teaching will focus on the forms of authentic pedagogical care that recognize diversity and promote differences through educational practices grounded in the principle of “special normality.”
